Most of us only think that by going green, we are doing our part to help the environment, but that’s not all going green can accomplish.

One way to earn a little cash while going green is to recycle. Many of us do it anyway, yet we tend to let the trash companies pick up our bags of recyclable items, instead of turning them in ourselves for cash.
Recycling aluminum cans can bring in extra money, plus if you live in an area that offers a refund for glass bottles and plastic, you can also earn that way. There are many courses available through accredited online colleges on recycling topics.
The amount of cash you can receive will vary according to where you live and what type of recycled items you collect. Often times soda bottles can bring in as much as ten to twenty cents per bottle. Some only offer five cents, but if you are a big bottle user, the cash can eventually add up.
An example of how much you can earn by recycling is if you have approximately five hundred glass bottles that have a value of ten cents a piece, that’s $50 you can earn and put away in a savings account.
Approximately five hundred aluminum soda cans that have a value of five cents, can give you an extra $25. Not too bad considering you were probably throwing them away anyway, or allowing the trash company to earn the money instead of yourself.
